GeMeinsam Zuhause 2024

In this project, we would like to take up the topic of “Security in Dortmund” again in 2024 and create it artistically with new participants. Together we are planning the implementation of a dance theater piece that is intended to convey a feeling of belonging despite the challenges in Dortmund - regardless of refugee experience or new immigration. The project gives participants the opportunity to artistically engage with relevant social issues and enter into a dialogue.

In concrete terms, this means developing a stage play with the participants from the idea to stage readiness. This is done through regular rehearsals in various artistic areas such as dance, speech, acting, stage design, breathing exercises and writing workshops. Young people between the ages of 12 and 18 should deal with questions of self-perception and the perception of others and, based on this, develop their own ideas about constructing identity and home.

Because dance and theater create a home! The certainty about one's own identity, origins and abilities creates positive connections to one's own reality and promotes positive associations with one's own home. The project extends over a period of 5 months, with intensive block units planned during the Easter holidays that can last up to 6 hours per day. Outside the holidays, participants regularly take part in afternoon or weekend lessons.
