Who was Anton Wilhelm Amo?

We're going with Amo researcher Andrea-Vicky Amankwaa-Birago on August 19 & 20

on his tracks

Kant, Leibniz, Voltaire - many people have heard these names before, especially when they deal with philosophy. But very few people know Anton Wilhelm Amo.

Why is that?

This workshop wants to change that. On these two days almost everything revolves around Anton

Wilhelm Amo - who he was, what his thinking means to us today and why his person is of central importance for the decolonial and anti-racist movement in Germany.

Andrea-Vicky Amankwaa-Birago takes us on the footsteps of Anton Wilhelm Amos - the journey goes from Ghana to Germany and back to Ghana - and invites us to a (written) dialogue about this first German philosopher of African origin, who 300 years ago, long before #Black Lives Matter, stood up for exactly that.

With physical exercises and critical reflections we will question our different perspectives and perceptions and along the way also a lot about Amo and

Learn and experience black German history in general.

As always, participation in the workshop is free of charge, but registration is required.
