PRESS RELEASE
Invitation to the 4th German-African Diaspora Conference NRW in Dortmund (September 6-8, 2024)
Dortmund, August 2024 – From September 6 to 8, 2024, we cordially invite you to the 4th edition of the German-African Diaspora Conference NRW, which will take place at the Dortmunder U. Since 2017, the conference has provided a forum for exchange on development policy issues, particularly those affecting the African continent.
The conference offers a platform for exchange, networking, and visibility for actors of the African diaspora who are engaged in development policy work both domestically and abroad. This year, the focus is on women, youth, and development along the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular emphasis on Goals 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Best practice examples will showcase existing projects and their impact. Additionally, the conference provides ample space for networking. Here, you will learn who is already active, which projects have been successfully implemented, and what hurdles and support opportunities exist. Discuss with other participants and speakers how you can also get involved.
What to expect:
Speeches by personalities from politics, business, and civil society.
Panel discussions with experts.
Workshops and interactive thematic sessions.
Evening program.
Networking space.
The conference is kindly supported by the Foundation for Environment and Development and Engagement Global, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Registration and further information: Registration is required to participate in the conference. For more information on the program and registration, please visit our website www.diasporakonferenz.de or our Instagram @vkiiruhrbezirk.
